6TH PÉCS INTERNATIONAL TANGO FESTIVAL

18–20 September 2026 | Pécs, Hungary

For three days, Argentine tango will take centre stage in Pécs.

Dancers and visitors are invited to enjoy workshops, an amateur tango competition, concerts, dance performances, a tango fashion show, a tango dance theatre production, a grand Tango Ball and an open-air Tango Picnic.

All festival programmes are free of charge, with the exception of the workshops and the Tango Ball.

ARGENTINE TANGO WORKSHOP – CONNECTION AND EMBRACE

Venue: Boldogság Háza, Pécs
Teachers: Franz Alvaro Bravo and Serbán Andrea

The workshop focuses on one of the most important foundations of Argentine tango: connection.

Through the embrace, the relationship between leading and following, and the awareness of the shared axis, participants can explore how movement becomes a genuine dialogue between two people.

Recommended level: from beginners with basic tango experience to advanced dancers
Duration: 2 × 50 minutes
Participation fee: HUF 8,000 per person  – payable in cash on site.

MILONGA BIENVENIDA

Venue: Boldogság Háza, Pécs

A friendly and relaxed tango evening where competitors, performers, guests and tango lovers can meet, dance together and get into the spirit of the festival weekend.

Tamás Kéméndi is one of Pécs's best-known and most popular accordionists. During this special concert, he will invite the audience into the colourful musical world of Argentine tango.

Visitors will have the opportunity to order personalised MONO tango shoes from Dávid Murvai, made according to individual foot measurements.

Létezés – Existence is a tango dance theatre production that follows the journey of human life, from the powerful momentum of youth to the quiet understanding of old age.

Through the embrace of tango and the deep connection between body and soul, it explores experiences shared by us all: searching, meeting, separation and understanding.

On Saturday evening, the 6th Pécs International Tango Festival invites you to a special Tango Ball.

The evening will open with a shared tanda danced by the participants of the 2nd Pécs Argentine Tango Competition, followed later by a presentation of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed couples.

AT MIDNIGHT – CANDLELIGHT VALS, THE DANCE OF TOGETHERNESS

One of the most intimate moments of the evening, when many small lights come together to create one shared glow.

The romantic surroundings and open-air stage of the Tettye Ruins provide a unique setting for the closing programme of the festival.

Dancing, music, encounters and the warm hospitality of the Pécs tango community await everyone who would like to conclude the three-day celebration with a relaxed and friendly picnic.

Admission to the Tango Picnic is free.
